Since 1901 socks have been made in Ashburton.
In 1935 when Cip Sparrow watched the old factory burn down, little did he know that in 1980 he and his son Euan would buy the factory and see it grow into one of New Zealand’s leading sock manufacturers.
Today Euan is CEO and father Cip still puts in 30 hours a week. Three generations of the sparrow family now work at the company with Euan’s daughter, Gabrielle and son, Paul.
Moving into a purpose built factory in 2003, it was expanded again in 2007 with the latest Italian Sangiacomo machines specialising in New Zealand Merino socks, mixing wool with seacell, coolmax, isowool, and thermostat. Many of the 30 staff have been with us for over 20 years in all facets of the company.
A large component goes in research and development with New Zealand Sock Co regarded by New Zealander's and International retailers at the leading edge of innovation in the industry.
As well as exporting world wide New Zealand Sock Company also imports various sock ranges from Poland, China and Pakistan. A one stop sock shop for all your sock solutions. |
